A short history of the Taste 2009/10 year so far... September: we arrived, fresh faced and ready for a big adventure. Cue a month of hardcore rehearsing in our cosy little studio before hitting the road in... October: two schools weeks in Grantham and an alternative Halloween event in Gorleston called ‘Treat with Taste’. November: an activities week in Hawkwell, followed by two schools weeks in Scotland (in Oban and Hawick), followed by a week in Bradford. December: our Christmas tour kicked off with gigs in Maidenhead, Northampton, Hadleigh and Thundersley. We also did a special Christmas schools week in Malden – lots of festive fun! January: Solid Remix at Chelmsford Cathedral, followed by two more weeks in Scotland (this time in Peterhead and North Berwick) and a weekend in Manchester for Livit Reunion. February: a weekend in Crowthorne, an activities week in Norwich and a schools week in Thundersley. March: two more weeks in Scotland, in Duns and Alloa – our last Scotland tour! April: Spring Harvest (Minehead), The Mix (Norwich) and a schools week in Hopton. May: Baptist Assembly in Plymouth, followed by an exciting two weeks in Herne, Germany! As you can see we’ve been very busy jet-setting all over the place, spreading the amazing news of God’s love. We have an incredible opportunity to be His ambassadors here and it really is exciting to share all the amazing things He’s done in our lives! Watch this space for more detail on some of the exciting tours we’ve had so far this year...! |

For a schools week we will typically arrive VERY EARLY on a Monday morning to set up all our equipment, ready to take all sorts of lessons designed to encourage young people to check out God for themselves. Using our music and drama we look at the topics of friendship, forgiveness, the value of a person, choices and generally the Christian perspective on these things. We’re not trying to brainwash people, just telling them what we’ve experienced and how they can find out more for themselves! An activities week is very different to this. Usually arranged by a church or youth group during half term, we work with a group of young people to write a song or a piece of drama and perfect it, ready to perform on the Friday night. This is mixed with lots of fun, games, music and drama from us, as well as whatever else the church has planned! The other things we are involved with are Christian events such as Spring Harvest, the Baptist Assembly and one off events put on by churches. Our role at these places can vary from leading worship, speaking and leading seminars, or playing our own music as a way of encouraging young people to find out more about God. |

Well we have a slightly different Taste line-up as usual for this year. The familiar faces of Claire, La Roche, Keel, Andy and Joy are still around but we've been joined by Becca Ceasar on vocals and Jack Harrison on bass guitar. Keel takes up drumming duties leaving Joy to carry on with all things technical as well as organising all our tours and keeping us in order! Check our blog page for more details and more exciting news... |

Taste has had a great time over the summer even though camping was involved! The new album has sold well but as all good things come to an end, we have to say goodbye to Matty Boy and Sammy J as they go on to new things in September. Matt has threatened to have all his hair lopped off as a fund-raiser but we've yet to see the result! Hopefully, we'll recognise him next time we see him! Meanwhile we await the arrival of Becca Ceasar who is joining us as a vocalist this year. She sang with us at Leading Edge so that was a good initiation into the world of Taste! Well we thought it was never gonna happen but finally it is here! The new Taste CD is released on June 4th! It contains 7 tracks including three brand new songs: 'Break Down The Wall', 'Following You' and the title track 'Never Gonna Happen.' We're very excited about the sound on this album which mixes a rocking guitar/bass/drums groove with the funky DJ sounds of La Roche. Add in the amazing vocal talent of the one and only Claire Parry and you have a very pleasing package which can be purchased for only 5 pounds plus postage and packing. You can order the CD if you go to www.vizaviz.org/nevergonnahappen.htm and even hear some of the tracks. |

Taste are in the studio working on some new songs for the next album. Although recording has started, the busy touring schedule means a new release won't be for a while yet. We've managed to avoid the worst of the snow on our recent tour. Two weeks in Scotland followed by a week in Devon meant we travelled the whole length of the country although our beloved van Linford failed his MOT so we had to pick him up and reload on our way from north to south! Taste would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are off on our Check It Out at Christmas Tour which adds a lot of fairy lights and tinsel to our stage set but also tries to unpack the real meaning of Christmas and help people to understand that Jesus makes all the difference in the world! |

On the road without Matt! |

Oh no! Failure to get his passport sorted in time meant that Matt didn't get to Germany with us. How tragic is that! Fortunately, we have a very talented technician in Andy K who is also an accomplished drummer and after a couple of quick rehearsals was ready to fill in. The tour went well and we even had a day off to visit a Christmas Market and the most massive music store in Cologne! More details of the tour on our blog page. |

Having spent 3 weeks in the studio perfecting the Taste set list and writing new material we were excited and ready to get on the road. However Claire received the news that she was required to appear at Her Majesty's pleasure at Basildon Crown Court!! No, not for any great crime that she had committed but as part of the jury, for two weeks...the first of which clashed with a rehearsal week, the second meant that she would be unable to be with us in Grantham for a schools week!! Not sure quite what to do we contacted all X-tasty girls only to discover that they were all either back at Uni or on the other side of the world!! So there was no other alternative...Joy stepped into the breach (and the studio) and spent the final week practicing with all the new Tasty guys! What a challenge...having not fronted the band for 4 years...this called for the mother of all shopping trips!!! Oh my word, what a great excuse for a new wardrobe! Seriously, it was very scary and not the ideal start to the year, especially when Claire's name was then called up for a more serious case halfway through the second week which meant that she was needed for an extra 10 days and so missed the second week in Grantham, too. Check out Tasty adventures in Grantham on the Blog pages. love you lots xx |
